Description
Classic sloppy joes made with ground beef, cheese, and a tasty sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 cup onion (diced)
- ½ cup green bell pepper (diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 6 thick slices American Cheese (from the deli)
- 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
- 12 slices sturdy bread
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet on medium high heat and add the ground beef. Cook the beef breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
- Add in the onions, green peppers and cook 2-3 minutes just until softened.
- Add in the minced garlic, garlic powder, salt and pepper and sauté another 30 seconds.
- Stir in the ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, and let simmer 2-3 minutes and remove from the heat.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle on medium low heat. Butter one side of your bread and place it butter side down into the skillet.
- Add the sloppy joe mixture and gently press.
- Add your cheese on top.
- Followed by the remaining buttered bread and press gently.
- Cook until it is golden brown then flip and cook until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve while hot!

- This recipe feeds 4-6 people.
