Beef Macaroni Skillet

Description

A delicious and hearty beef macaroni dish that’s easy to make.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • ½ Tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 ½ cups beef broth (low sodium)
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups macaroni noodles (dry)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • to taste Cilantro or parsley (chopped for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat add the beef and onion. Break up the meat as you brown it.
  2. Drain most of the fat then add the chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, cumin, pepper, garlic and tomato paste. Heat for an additional minute. Add the flour and stir to combine.
  3. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring followed by the milk and macaroni.
  4. Once the liquid starts to boil, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to medium low. Cook for about 12-14 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in the cheese, a little at a time until completely melted. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley or cilantro, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add more chili powder.
  • Can be served with a side salad.
