Description
Delicious candy hearts filled with cake and covered in chocolate, perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
Scale
- 24 oz Candy Melts
- 2 tbsp Frosting
- 1 box Cake Mix (for 8x8 in cake)
Instructions
- Melt your chocolate according to the instructions on the package. You can also melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl in the oven on the lowest setting. It takes about 20-30 minutes to melt 12 oz of chocolate.
- Once melted, add 1-2 tsp of melted chocolate to each heart mold and spread it around using a paintbrush, spoon, or utensil.
- Shake the mold to ensure even coating, adding more chocolate to the edges if necessary to prevent breaking. Chill in the fridge for 5-10 minutes until hard.
- While the chocolate hardens, prepare the cake mix by mixing the frosting with the cake according to the package instructions.
- Remove the molds from the fridge and add 1-2 tsp of cake mix to each heart, leaving room for more chocolate on top.
- Spoon another teaspoon of chocolate over the cake mix, scraping off any excess with a bench scraper or knife. Let harden completely.
- Once hardened, gently remove the hearts from the mold.
- If adding conversation hearts, create the words in the stamp, ensuring the letters are backwards for proper stamping. Test on paper towel first.
- Let dry and enjoy your homemade candy hearts!
Notes
- Be careful when stamping on the hearts; too much pressure can cause breakage.
- The candy colors are oil-based, leading to better results without smudging.
